ICMR MDMS special call for Centres for Advanced Research (CAR) developing priority indigenous medical devices and diagnostic technologies. This is a DISTINCT specialised ICMR funding competition, not the NIRMAN-AT assistive-technology CAR call GRT-0076 or First in World Challenge GRT-0075. Official revised call dated 14 October 2026. Applicants must select 8–10 technologies from the official ICMR list of approximately 100 unmet clinical-need priority technologies, with translation, clinical validation, regulatory compliance, intellectual property and product development. Up to INR 15 crore per CAR for a maximum five years; new infrastructure is not funded, limited justified upgrading may be allowed.

STRICT ELIGIBILITY: The principal investigator must be a REGULAR faculty member from a top-25 institution in the NIRF 2025 OVERALL category (as specified in the original revised PDF). This is NOT a general NGO grant and independent NGOs, small colleges or startups cannot be assumed eligible as primary applicants. At least one co-PI from the same institute is mandatory.
